Sending a correction

Mechanical corrections are the most useful messages this desk receives, and they are the easiest to act on when they are specific. A correction that names the entry, quotes the sentence and states what the protocol actually does can usually be checked and fixed the same week.

Four things make a correction immediately actionable. Name the page and the section heading. Quote the exact sentence you are disputing. State the correct behaviour. Point at something that shows it, such as protocol documentation, a program source, or a transaction anyone can look up.

Arithmetic corrections are equally welcome and even easier to verify. If a worked example does not reproduce, saying which step fails and what number you obtained instead is enough for the desk to find the error without any further exchange.

Suggesting a subject

Suggestions are read and a few of them become entries. The ones that work are questions about mechanics that the site does not currently answer: how a particular pool design handles something, why a specific reserve pattern occurs, or what a measurement can and cannot support.

The ones that cannot become entries are questions requiring knowledge this desk does not have, which mostly means anything about what a price will do, what a specific participant intended, or whether a particular position is a good idea. Those are declined for the reasons set out on the about page rather than for lack of interest.

Requests that are declined

• Analysis of a specific token, pool or wallet presented as a verdict on the people behind it.
• Anything asking for a price expectation, target, entry or exit.
• Requests to add ratings, review counts, testimonials or performance figures to any page.
• Requests to publish an author biography or credential that does not exist.
• Paid placement, sponsored entries or guest posts, in any form and under any label.
• Requests to remove a correction, or to describe a corrected entry as if the original had been right.

These are policy rather than preference. Each of them, if accepted once, would make every other page on the site less trustworthy, and the value of a desk like this one rests entirely on the things it will not print.

What to expect

Messages are read. Corrections get a reply and a fix, in that order, and the fix is made whether or not a reply is convenient. Subject suggestions may be acknowledged briefly, and the absence of a reply is not a judgement on the suggestion.

Nothing sent to this address is published without permission, and no message is used as a testimonial anywhere on the site. Reader messages are not a source of quotes here, because a quote attributed to an unnamed reader is indistinguishable from an invented one.
